Times They Are a-Changin'

The Song Is "Times They Are a-Changin'"

Lyrics
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

This song shouold be an anthem for all young generations. He takes the side of the young kids, and not the older generations. Some things the adults will not understand, but they need to accept the fact that things change. There is no going back and people need to change and go with the flow of change. There is no sense in trying to keep everything the same. Evolving music, findings, ect. should not be stalled. America thrives on constant change. So far that constant change has worked for everyday American citizens.

The Youth of Today vs 1920's Youth

Past generations believe tat the future or current generations do not have the same conservative morals as they do. When these past generations talk about the lack in morals do they remember how they acted when they were younger. Testing their parent's patience, the societial restarints, and maybe even the law. I belive that when they were younger they wanted to break free from the rules they lived under. They broke those same restarints to the best of their ability in the only ways they knew how. As their ideas got broader the limits expanded. Similar to how man evlolved from the chimpanzee, future generations evolve from past ones. Every generation will keep pushing the limits and restains because that is the only thing they can do to break habbit. Breaking the rules of today are not better or worse than those of prior generations, they are nearly the same. They are different restrains, but they are equal in the standard held by the last generation.

Blues Of Today

Leap Of Faith by Seth Walker

After my baby quit me
I wouldn't even go outside
When my friends tried to fix me up
I get up underneath the bed and hide

I knew I was never goin' to change my luck
Till I got my courage up enough to try
And when I wither and spread my wings
I found out I could fly

'Cause sometimes all it takes
Is a leap of faith, yes, it does
Sometimes all it takes
Is a leap of faith

I had no way of knowin'
What would come from my first kiss
It scares me now just to think about
All the good love I might have missed

Now, I was just tryin' to find some help
Tryin' to see myself as a survivor
I had to rise on up from the ashes of love
And jump back into the fire

'Cause sometimes all it takes
Is a leap of faith
Sometimes all it takes
Is a leap of faith

Sometimes you got to believe
Before you see the fruit
You can wait a lifetime
For a moment of truth

'Cause sometimes all it takes
Is a leap of faith

Sometimes you got to believe
Before you see the fruit
You can wait a lifetime
For a moment of truth

Sometimes all it takes
Sometimes all it takes
Sometimes all it takes
Is a leap of faith

Oh, you gotta believe it
Sometimes, sometimes
That's all it takes

Sometimes all it takes
Sometimes all it takes
Sometimes all it takes

Umm, you gotta believe
Have a little faith

Sometimes, that's all it takes
Sometimes, that's all it takes

Searching for Blues music that was created and listened to by the younger generations? Seth Walker is a familiar voice to blues houses and coffee shops world wide. His song, Leap Of Faith, is an all to common feeling of many who have gone through a tough heartbreak. This song is about how he went through a rough breakup that made him afraid to love. He would not go out because he was not over his ex, until, one day he went on a "leap of faith". He lets his audience know that you cannot hide after a rough patch in life. Sometimes you just need to try again,"And jump back into the fire". As scary as that may seem it can work out for the better, like it did for him. Even though his song is solely based about a breakup the end opens up to most people just needing a leap of faith to get them out o their rut. I like this song because it gives hope to those in a hard time. This song relates back to our class with how most of the lyrics are repeating and it is a slower pace. This song, like other blues songs, lacks the complex rhythm and instruments of a rock song.
